Subaru Steps Up to Fight Cancer, Support Local Communities

Subaru Logo | Beaverton, OR

For the past 7 years, Subaru of America has been a reliable force in the fight to cure blood cancer and promote good health — helping communities, health providers, and researchers around the country with a steady stream of fundraisers and donations.

The Subaru Loves to Care program is a major supporter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, which leads the way with advocacy, research, and treatment for blood cancer patients. Each year, Subaru teams up with LLS to deliver thousands of blankets, arts and craft kits, and encouraging messages to adults and kids who are in treatment or recovery for leukemia, lymphoma, or myeloma.

In addition to its LLS partnership, Subaru Loves to Care makes generous financial donations to facilities that treat cancer patients and others in need of care. Most recently, Subaru presented Cooper University Health Care in New Jersey with $30,000 for equipment that allows patients to treat chronic health problems at home.

Subaru Loves to Care is part of the larger Subaru Love Promise, which unites Subaru’s corporate offices, retailers, employees, and customers with the goal of helping local communities. In addition to health organizations, the Subaru Love Promise funds education, environmental preservation, anti-hunger efforts, animal welfare, and much more.

Subaru 2022 Top Safety Pick

Of the six vehicles honored by the IIHS, an impressive four earned the coveted Top Safety Pick+ award: the 2022 Subaru Ascent, Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid, Subaru Legacy, and Subaru Outback. The remaining award winners were the Subaru Crosstrek and Subaru Impreza five-door.

All of these nameplates are recurring winners in the annual Top Safety Pick evaluations. The Legacy, Impreza, and Outback have each won the award for 14 years running or more. The Crosstrek Hybrid has won TSP+ recognition for four consecutive years. In fact, Subaru has received a whopping 61 IIHS Top Safety Pick+ awards since 2013, more than any other brand.

What Is the Subaru Love Promise?

The Subaru Love Promise | Beaverton, OR

You’ve no doubt heard of the slogan, “Love: it’s what makes a Subaru a Subaru.” But that’s more than just a catchy tagline — it embodies the Subaru brand. The Subaru Love Promise is a series of five initiatives, all meant to give back to the community and make the world a better place.

Subaru Loves Pets

Subaru is known for promoting pet adoption, but the brand’s animal advocacy doesn’t stop there. This part of the Subaru Love Promise contributes to The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, ASPCA Rescue Rides, and the Center for Pet Safety.

Subaru Loves the Earth

In addition to implementing sustainable practices at its offices and production plants, Subaru is heavily invested in environmental preservation projects, including The Subaru Forester Re-Foresting Project, the National Park Foundation, and Leave No Trace.

Subaru Loves to Care

This cause is all about fighting disease, promoting healthy lifestyles, and improving the quality of life for patients in need. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, the Special Olympics, and the Alzheimer’s Association are just a few of the causes championed by Subaru.

Subaru Loves Learning

Through the Subaru Loves Learning initiative, the automaker works to improve school programs and make them more accessible. The brand champions several reputable education-based charities, including the American Association for the Advancement of Science, Teach for America, and AdoptAClassroom.org.

Subaru Loves to Help

This wing of the Subaru Love Promise is all about providing aid to people in need through supporting charitable causes like Habitat for Humanity, Meals on Wheels, and Feeding America.

Subaru doesn’t just give back to the community at the national level. At CARR Subaru, we’re proud to support causes that help our friends and neighbors in Beaverton, Oregon.

Subaru Demonstrates the “World’s First Self-Driving Maneuver”

Subaru Impreza | Carr Subaru | Beaverton, OR

It’s not exactly breaking news that autonomous driving technology is developing rapidly and drawing more attention with each passing week. Recently, Subaru solidified itself as a major player in the race to perfect driverless vehicles, as it just executed what it calls “The World’s First Self-Driving Maneuver” using a 2021 Forester and two other models.

The maneuver in question was executed on Subaru’s Research and Experiment Center Proving Grounds, where a 2021 Forester successfully merged with two other vehicles — a WRX S4 and an Impreza Sport — without any human input. Interestingly enough, the models involved in the test communicated via 5G and V2X technology.

The world-first autonomous merging maneuver came as a result of the partnership between Subaru and SoftBank Corp., a multinational holding company with substantial stakes in technology companies. The two organizations have been working together on autonomous driving research since 2019.

Following the success of the merging maneuver, it doesn’t seem like Subaru has any intention of slowing down. According to a report by Denis Flierl at Torque News, the automaker stated that it’s driving toward a goal of “zero fatal accidents by 2030,” and is actively developing new artificial intelligence technology for use in future vehicles.

As a proud member of the Subaru family, we couldn’t be more thrilled to see what industry-leading innovations are coming next. Be sure to keep your eyes tuned to the CARR Subaru blog for more news about Subaru’s breakthroughs!

Subaru Helped Some Pets in Need This Fall

Pets in Need | Beaverton, OR

Over the last few decades, Subaru has earned a well-deserved reputation as an automaker that cares. It started with a strong lineup of reliable cars with exceptional safety ratings and eventually grew into a series of philanthropic efforts known as the Subaru Love Promise. The latest example of Subaru’s commitment to doing good is its second annual “National Make a Dog’s Day” event, during which it helped pets in need.

Subaru Loves Pets, an animal-focused branch of the Love Promise, sponsored this event held on Oct. 22. It focused on finding homes for “last-to-be-adopted” dogs in shelters, including many canines with special needs.

“Dogs hold a special place in our hearts here at Subaru, and this year’s National Make a Dog’s Day [was…] the perfect occasion to show appreciation for our canine friends, especially the hundreds of thousands of dogs with special needs that are too often overlooked,” said Alan Bethke, Senior Vice President of Marketing, Subaru of America, Inc.

Of course, if you already have a beloved four-legged family member, you don’t have to miss out on the fun. During October, you can catch one of the automaker’s dog-centric commercials that showcase how pet-friendly Subaru models are. Subaru also encourages you to do something special for your dog and share pictures on social media using #MakeADogsDay.

Even if you missed Make a Dog’s Day this year, though, there are still ways to celebrate the joy that dogs bring us. Add some pet-friendly accessories to your Subaru to make traveling with your canines less stressful. Call us at CARR Subaru to find out more.

Safety with Subaru AWD

Safety with Subaru AWD

Shopping for a new car can be confusing with all the new available features, trims to choose from, and powertrain options. For those who live in the Portland, Oregon area, it’s important to remember that maintaining traction on your commute to work throughout the winter is a necessity. Front-wheel drive powertrains only deliver power to two wheels at a time, where all-wheel drive systems delivers power from the engine to all four tires simultaneously. If one or two tires slip, your all-wheel drive system will keep you going with the other two tires maintaining traction.

While many brands from Ford to Honda offer their vehicles standard in front-wheel drive with all-wheel drive available at a higher price tag, Subaru offers most of their major models standard in all-wheel drive, from their SUVs such as the Subaru Crosstrek, Ascent, Forester, and Outback, to their sedans such as the Legacy and Impreza. Keep your family safe with the benefits of all-wheel drive.

Visit CARR Subaru today to find out more about Subaru AWD.
